Where imagination meets craft, story, and play
Contemporary puppetry education and outreach are among the core annual programs of the Art Village. Each year, we invite professional instructors into schools and communities or host thematic workshops within the Village itself, offering students, teachers, and enthusiasts opportunities to engage with this highly creative art form.
Puppetry is a multidisciplinary practice that weaves together creative movement, drama games, puppet design and construction, and the tradition of Toy Theater (or Story Theater)—a miniature stage form that flourished in early 19th-century Europe. Our curriculum also features acclaimed programs such as Story Theater, celebrated for its power to connect across disciplines: linking visual arts with craft-making, performance with drama and voice, and scriptwriting with narrative imagination.
Most importantly, through role-playing, participants are guided toward empathy and perspective-taking, transforming abstract ethical, emotional, and social issues into tangible experiences. In this way, puppetry becomes not just a learning method but a vital medium where creativity, storytelling, and cultural exploration converge.
In essence, puppetry education is more than knowledge—it is a living bond between art and life.
